Resolving Immigration Problems In An Honest & Responsible Manner

Immigrants in California deserve a real deportation defense

Millions of immigrants are hoping to qualify for the programs offered by President Obama's plan for immigration. Unfortunately, due to a court injunction, the programs outlined in the President's executive order are currently unavailable, and it is unknown if or when they will become available. In response to this injunction, several legislators have come to together and created a pamphlet they seem to believe will provide undocumented immigrants all over the country, including those residing in California, with a suitable deportation defense.

These 'do not deport me' cards are now available to those who are eligible for the DACA or DAPA programs. These cards are intended to be used by undocumented immigrants who have been detained by authorities, as a way of showing they are not a priority for deportation. Along with the card, that is to be carried at all times by immigrants, information is also provided about other important documents needed to show eligibility for the Deferred Action for Childhood and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans.

Will these cards do any good? Well, that is a question many undocumented immigrants will, undoubtedly, have. Unfortunately, it is hard to say, as there are no guarantees. Immigration officials are not required to accept these cards.

Undocumented immigrants, whether they reside in California or elsewhere, do have the right to a real deportation defense. This includes having legal representation. While the thought of deportation is certainly frightening, an experienced attorney can help throughout deportation and removal proceedings and with taking any actions needed to apply for residency status.
