Mayors condemn executive order

Showing that he intends to follow through with his campaign promise to restrict entry into the U.S. and deport undocumented immigrants, President Trump signed an executive order demanding law enforcement officials follow immigrantion laws. In adhering to these federal statutes, police officers would be responsible for jailing undocumented individuals so that they may be deported. Cities or counties that fail to obey this order would lose access to federal funds.

DHS expert panels urge an end to detention of immigrant families

When the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. immigrantion and Customs Enforcement were confronted with allegations of inhumane conditions and due process violations in immigrant detention centers, they did what any government agency would do: They commissioned reports from independent experts.

Report: Immigrant border surge fueled by Central America violence

Here in San Diego, and across the nation's southwest border, officials are trying to cope with a recent surge in immigrantion. Homeland Security officials recently released a report showing a 15 percent increase in border immigrantion in the year that ended this past September.
