Resolving Immigration ProblemsIn An Honest & Responsible Manner

Important points about a citizenship petition

Becoming a naturalized citizen isn’t an easy process. You have to meet the requirements and go through an arduous process. Going through the process successfully means that you will be able to enjoy some of the rights and perks of citizenship. These can add a lot of meaning to your life.

You have the right to vote in elections and run for an elected office. You can apply to work for the federal government, and you can worship as you see fit. You have the right to a fair jury trial that occurs in a timely manner.

In exchange for those, you must defend the Constitution and remain active in your community. You might also be called on to sit as part of a jury. You will also need to pay federal taxes.

While you might think that a citizenship is permanent, this is incorrect. It is possible to lose your citizenship for several reasons. A few examples include lying during the citizenship phase, committing a federal crime like treason or through the expatriation process.

Questions are bound to come up during the process. Make sure that you have these answered so that you can make a decision about what you are going to do. If you do pursue citizenship, you should beware that making misstatements can invalidate the entire application.

Once you do everything you have to do to become a citizen, you will go through a ceremony. Enjoy this pivotal moment in your life and plan for how you will thrive as a new citizen of this amazing country.

Many people turn to an experienced attorney to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
