H-1B visas applications require attention to detail

Professionals who desire to make a move to the United States, either for a new life or simply a learning opportunity, are required to have proper legal documentation in order to continue working in their particular field. H-1B visas are generally required for certain specialized positions, but getting one of these visas isn't easy. The number granted across the country each year is limited. Immigrants to California who would like to work in their trained profession must act quickly and without error if they are to be granted this kind of visa.

Changes to California immigration laws regarding public services

California, like other states, has certain immigration laws in place to protect both citizens and legal immigrants. These laws, however, have seemed by many as unfair in the treatment toward undocumented immigrants. One of these laws was recently revised and parts were stripped from the books after Governor Jerry Brown signed new immigration legislation earlier this month.

Certain conditions exist for gaining derivative citizenship

There are a number of ways to gain citizenship status, depending on your background. For children who were born out of the country, an application for derivative citizenship may be required to receive an official certificate of citizenship. Regardless of a person's location, whether that is in California or elsewhere, certain requirements must be met before derivative citizenship can be approved.

What are provisional unlawful presence waivers?

As a part of the immigration process, some immigrants may be required to leave the country to attend an interview with a United States consular officer in order to obtain a visa for lawful permanent resident status. These proceedings can take time and often requires families to separate until a visa is granted. In order to help immigrants to California and other parts of the country get back to their families, provisional unlawful presence waivers were made available to speed up the process.

California Immigration: Voluntary return system reform

Well over a year ago, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of several immigrant rights organizations and individual plaintiffs. The purpose behind this lawsuit was to seek changes to the voluntary return process that is widely used in California to send immigrants back to their native country. Many believe this voluntary return process denies immigrants their right of receiving a fair immigration hearing.
